You will be held accountable for:

  • Ensure plant availability for production and improvement of existing performance level.
  • Implementation of maintenance improvement plant, leading to higher availability and OEE
  • Budgetary control of the Landover maintenance, engineering capital and utilities budgets and resources
  • Manage, improve and develop the people within the department both technically and organizationally, consisting of both management and bargaining unit employees
  • Conduct root cause analysis and process/machinery re-design to eliminate waste.
  • Develop and improve an effective program of Total Productive Maintenance to deliver required equipment reliability. The program will include defined TPM schedules, stock level reviews, and an automated parts management system. Developing and implementing a lean/agile manufacturing and CI culture.
  • Track and trend machine downtime reasons and design/re-design processes/machinery to eliminate root causes. 
  • Manage the engineering stock and purchase activities to ensure essential spares are available, whilst controlling costs and considering best value.
  • Develop and implement a technical library for new and existing machinery and equipment on site.
  • Ensure all statutory legal inspections are carried out as scheduled within the allotted time frame.
  • Oversight of all utilities necessary to operate the Landover facility as well as to ensure efficient and cost effective daily operations through energy conserving measures (ECMs).
  • Interface with IT to ensure fully integrated systems.
  • Execute capital projects related to manufacturing, facilities and sustainability to include: scope design, CFR completion, contractor management, construction, commissioning and handover for the Landover facility, master planning, 5 year capital plans.

To be great at this job you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 6 years relevant experience in a fast moving consumer products or related manufacturing environment with emphasis on experience with hi-speed packaging equipment and process controls.
  • Results driven with good leadership skills and a hands-on approach.
  • Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Proven change agent with a passion for manufacturing, engineering, people development.
  • Proven experience in predictive maintenance tools and techniques.
  • An enthusiastic and systemic approach to problem solving.
  • Resiliency, able to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Able to challenge the status quo and motivate the teams to constantly strive for improved levels of performance.
  • Familiar with modern manufacturing techniques to include Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Supply Chain and Manufacturing methods.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative, & commitment, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment is essential.
  • Proficiency with PC-based applications.
