Job Responsibilities

  • Develop sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors
  • Evaluate spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries
  • Communicate with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production
  • Conduct cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement
  • Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
  • Work closely with the company legal department to make sure contracts and terms are in place and favorable
  • Special projects as needed

 

To be great at this job you will need to:

  • Understand capability and quality parameters of manufacturing when purchasing
  • Lead periodic evaluations of suppliers on quality of product, manufacturing performance, order accuracy and on time delivery of products
  • Be a liaison between project ideation and design of product by the supplier

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; 5-7 years related experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (CPG a plus)
  • SAP Experience
